Douglas "Dougie" Ross of Camarello, California, as described by Hall of Famer Jack Byford (inducted 1975) was "An exceptional playmaker and a terrific team leader" Doug was the captain or coach of every team of which he played. His career was cut short by World War II, but he still managed 1'0 games between 19'8 and 1947 with Richmond, Wallaces, Navy, and as a Mann Cup pickup player with New Westminster Salmonbellies. He participated in three Mann Cup series, emerging victorious in 194' and twice being the runner-up for the Mike Kelly Award, MVP of the Mann Cup. |
