Gord Thom was one of the cleanest players in the game of lacrosse. 

He won the outstanding player award in the Ontario Lacrosse Association in 1931, then turned pro with the Maple Leafs in 1932.  After retiring as a player he continued coaching and refereeing in the minor league and died on the field while refereeing a game.  Gord also was a member of the Toronto Argonauts Football Club. 

He was a winner of the James Murphy Memorial Trophy and the Charlie Querrie award as the outstanding Senior Player in Ontario in 1931
