Oscar Swanson made a great contribution to lacrosse as a player and as a sponsor of minor teams.

Swanson's sporting goods store was the lacrosse centre of New Westminster for many years. He was the official timekeeper for lacrosse games and was voted "Man of the Year" in 1950 for his outstanding contribution to the youth of the City of New Westminster.
