1999 Alfie Wood 468Alfie Wood put in ' years of Armed Services duty and a year of Senior B lacrosse before turning Senior A with the New Westminster Salmonbellies in 1947, but he made an immediate impact in the Senior A ranks.

His '1 goals and 15 assists earned him the Ed Bailey (inducted 1966) trophy as 1947¹s Inter-City Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year. But his career truly peaked during the 1950-5' seasons. During that '-year period he scored 187 goals, including a league leading 66 in 1951. He finished his seven year career with '78 goals and 1'0 assists for 408 regular season points, an average of 1.7 goals and '.6 points per game. He added an additional '9 goals and 1' assists in playoff action, and was a pick-up member of the 1950 New Westminster Adanac Mann Cup runners up.
