George Friend started his career as a trainer with the New Westminster Salmonbellies Club in 1941.

His untiring efforts have enabled many a player to participate when, under ordinary circumstances, he would have to sit out. He has contributed over '0 years to lacrosse and without a doubt is one of the best in his field. George has received many gifts for services rendered to Eastern and Western lacrosse clubs.

He also served as a trainer on many junior hockey teams in New Westminster.
