Walter Joe Murphy - for seventeen years was known as the club policeman.
He played the field game for three years before box took over and he became known as a fearless competitor. He was a member of the Mann Cup winning Mimico, Ontario, Mountaineers in 1932 and completed his playing career with the Brampton Bullets in 1945. He had great speed and played the game with an abandon that was exciting to the fans.
He turned to refereeing and was rated one of the top officials in the country.
