Mimico, Ontario, was the site of the start of the career of Red McDonald, a career which saw him score over 500 goals for St. Catharines and Hamilton. Known for his ball carrying and stick-handling abilities, he played in two Mann Cup series from which he emerged victorious once. His father, Jack McDonald (Charter) is a member of the Hall of Fame. Blain also did some refereeing in the minor leagues of the Ontario Lacrosse Association from 1944 to 1946 and did well. He later coached the Long Branch Club and then became president of the Oakville club. |
