Down Memory Lane - Fred Fulla

The big man was known as an almost unbeatable goaltender, but one night he decided to up his play  even a notch higher by substituting a baby mattress as his chest protector.  According to Cleve Dheensaw "opponents couldn't see a stitch of netting behind him" and even with a cannon getting a ball past him would be almost impossible.  Thanks to this episode the rules were changed and although not officially recorded as the "Fulla Rule" goaltenders must now use pads that "conform to the body"
